Business Restraining Orders

We have helped obtain orders for protection in business litigation when:

• A client suspected that an employee or officer was guilty of embezzling from their business or other form of fraud
• A shareholder believed that the board of directors was not complying with the shareholders' directives
• A partner suspected that another partner was excessively spending company money for personal use

If necessary, we can apply for a receivership at the same time. A receiver can supervise and run the business until the settlement of the dispute.

Family Law Restraining Orders

We also apply for protection orders during divorces or breakups. They are useful if a client owns a business with a spouse or has substantial marital assets. A restraining order plus a receiver will prevent the spouses from hiding assets or lying about how much their business is worth.

Usually, we bring family law protection orders in cases involving domestic violence. If you are being abused by a spouse or partner, an order for protection makes it a crime for him or her to come near you. If a person violates that order, he or she can go to jail.
